Who We Are

"The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love"

The church is a gathering of people from different walks of life, who are not perfect, do not always agree with each other, but who strive to live in the way of Jesus Christ. The foundation of his teaching is love, and in celebrating that love we hope to increase an awareness of God's presence in the world.

The Hinckley Methodist Circuit is part of the world-wide church, we have nine churches across locations around Hinckley and Bosworth. Each church community is unique, their page will give further information about worship and other activities as well as contact information.

Methodists share beliefs with other mainstream Christian churches. We have a rich tradition for singing in worship, sharing in mid-week small group meetings and offering hospitality. Faith in action, lies at the heart of what faith means for us as we seek to serve our communities. We believe that faith in God changes lives for the better and can help transform our towns and villages into places where everyone thrives.

We seek to be a justice seeking church, where all are welcome regardless of background. Some of our churches have made the decision to be registered for same-sex marriages, others have not, but we journey together holding contradictory convictions, respecting differing views. We are not perfect, the perfect church does not exist, but we believe in building communities of hope where everyone can find a place.

As people of faith, we recognise that the world we live in has a source, for us that is located in our belief in God as creator. Given humankind's tendency to spoil things we also recognise our need to put right what we do wrong and in the life of Jesus we know there is a better way. We all travel together in faith, called by God to be disciples knowing that God is with through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

We are called, as followers of Jesus, to live in love.

To love everyone without conditions is to love the way that God loves. Everyone is precious, everyone is welcome, everyone deserves the opportunity to find hope, love, joy and peace. All are welcome.

We work together with other Christian churches to be, not only a worshipping community and Christian presence, but also to pray for our communities and offer the hope we find in the good news of Jesus Christ. All of us are on a journey of life and faith, every journey needs fellow travellers, come and join us.
